Nightlife in Rhodes

Last updated

a drink in a blue glass with a bananas and a straw

For nightlife in Rhodes, start with the kind of evening you want. Rhodes Town and Faliraki suit bar-hopping and clubs. Lindos offers rooftop bars and lounges, while Pefkos and Lardos suit a more relaxed night.

My suggestion: choose one area for the evening rather than spending your night travelling between resorts. Faliraki suits a louder party night; Lindos makes more sense for rooftop drinks. You can also choose a relaxed terrace without committing to a club.

Sort out your journey home before the first drink, especially if you're staying outside your chosen nightlife area. If you're still arranging the wider holiday, use the Rhodes Island Guide to fit your evenings around your daytime plans.

Chapter 1 of 9

Where should you go out in Rhodes?

Choose Rhodes Town for nightlife variety, Faliraki for a party-focused night, and Lindos for rooftop drinks with a view. Pefkos and Lardos suit a more relaxed evening, with friendly bars rather than a club-heavy night.

  • Rhodes Town: the best all-round choice for groups wanting bars, dancing and quieter drinks in one area. Avoid making Orfanidou Bar Street your main stop if crowds and loud music bother you.
  • Faliraki: choose Bar Street for close-together bars, loud music and a young holiday crowd. For conversation or romance, I’d choose somewhere else.
  • Lindos: best for couples and friends who want rooftop cocktails, village atmosphere and acropolis or sea views. Popular terraces fill early, so it is less suited to arriving late and expecting the best table.
  • Pefkos: relaxed cocktail bars, pub-style evenings and entertainment suit travellers who want some energy without party-street chaos. Serious clubbers will prefer Rhodes Town or Faliraki.
  • Lardos: choose the village square for friendly bars, local character and a simple evening out. It is not the place for a large choice of clubs or polished rooftop lounges.

Rhodes Town or Faliraki for a lively night

Rhodes Town is my first choice when your group wants different things from the evening. You can start with atmospheric drinks inside the medieval walls, then move towards louder bars or dancing. You do not have to commit to a full party night.

The main choices are Orfanidou Bar Street for high energy, Old Town bars for courtyards and stone-lane atmosphere, and Elli Beach for seaside drinks. Pick your starting point around the mood you want, rather than heading straight to the loudest street.

Faliraki Bar Street suits a simpler plan: arrive ready to socialise, move between neighbouring bars and keep the evening lively. Its appeal is the concentration of places and the youthful summer crowd. If you want a quiet catch-up over drinks, I’d pick Rhodes Town’s Old Town instead.

If the seaside setting appeals more than the club scene, compare the beach bars in Rhodes before choosing your evening spot. A beach-bar night is a different choice from heading straight for either party street.

Lindos for rooftop drinks

Choose Lindos when the setting matters as much as the drinks. Whitewashed lanes and rooftop terraces make it a strong choice for a date night or dinner followed by cocktails. Depending on the terrace, the outlook takes in the acropolis or the sea.

Lindos is not only quiet lounges; you can find livelier bars and dancing too. Still, I’d choose it for a slower evening with a view rather than a concentrated club crawl.

Combine dinner in Lindos with rooftop drinks and keep the evening in the village. Popular rooftops fill early in high season, so arrive early if the view is your priority.

Pefkos and Lardos for a relaxed evening

Pefkos is the better fit if you want a relaxed resort evening with plenty of bar styles. Its mix includes casual pubs, cocktail bars, karaoke and live-music evenings. Relaxed does not mean silent: there are lively options without the intensity of Faliraki Bar Street.

Lardos puts the village square at the centre of the evening. Choose it for drinks, conversation and a more local feel rather than a string of late-night clubs. It suits couples, families and friends who are happy letting dinner lead into a drink or two.

I’d choose Pefkos when your group wants entertainment, and Lardos when the priority is catching up over food and drinks. You can choose somewhere to eat in Lardos and make the square your evening destination.

Choose somewhere close to your holiday base

Choose one nightlife area per evening, rather than trying to fit Rhodes Town, Faliraki and Lindos into one night. Moving between nearby bars is part of the fun; travelling between resorts breaks up the evening. Use the Rhodes Island Guide’s area overview to match your plans to your base.

Staying nearby can make a walk-home evening possible, depending on your accommodation’s exact location. For a night farther away, decide how you will get back before leaving. If everyone wants to drink, I’d arrange a private transfer rather than take a rental car.

If nights out will shape your holiday, start with where to stay for nightlife. Choose accommodation with an easy route to your preferred bars, while keeping some distance from the loudest streets if sleep matters.

Chapter 2 of 9

Where should you go for bars and clubs in Rhodes Town?

Rhodes Town suits you if you want bars and clubs within the same evening. Choose the Old Town for atmospheric drinks, Orfanidou Bar Street for a louder party night, or a club as your main destination.

Choose your nightlife area

The biggest choice is between a bar-led evening and a dancing-focused night. For drinks and conversation, choose an area and leave your next stop open. If dancing matters most, choose your club first and build the evening around it.

You can combine different parts of town, but you don’t need to cover every nightlife area. I’d choose one main area and keep a second as an option, rather than spend the evening moving between them.

  • Orfanidou Bar Street: choose this for loud bars, neon lights, DJs and a classic holiday-party atmosphere. It suits groups who want several lively stops, but the noise and crowds can be too much for a conversation-focused evening.
  • Old Town: head inside the medieval walls for stone alleys, courtyards and smaller, atmospheric bars. This is my pick for couples and groups who want drinks together without making a club the centre of the night.
  • Elli Beach: choose the seafront for a more relaxed start and social sunset drinks. Some beach venues become livelier later, so a seaside setting doesn’t always mean a quiet evening.
  • Make it part of a day in town: use the Rhodes Town area overview to plan sightseeing before your evening, rather than making a separate trip.

Bars for the start of your evening

Start with dinner in Rhodes Old Town if you want food and drinks in the same part of town. You can stay with the courtyard-bar atmosphere or move on when you feel like dancing.

Legends Rock Bar and Soho Bar are options for a more energetic start. Neither needs to be just a stop before a club: if the atmosphere suits you, there’s no reason to move.

  • Legends Rock Bar: an energetic option if you prefer a music-focused bar to a quiet cocktail stop. If live music is your main reason for going, check the current programme before choosing your night.
  • Soho Bar: a social choice for cocktails and dancing. It suits you if your group wants drinks first, with the option to get moving without committing to a separate club.
  • Old Town bars: choose these for the setting as much as the drinks. If conversation is the priority, pick somewhere you can comfortably hear each other rather than following the busiest crowd.

Clubs for a dancing-focused night

If dancing is the point of your evening, make the club your main destination rather than an afterthought. Fuego and Colorado Club are Rhodes Town options to consider for this kind of night.

Before building your evening around one venue, check its current opening details, programme and any entry conditions. Choose for the night being offered, rather than expecting the same music or format every evening.

  • Fuego: a lively club option for party-seekers who want dancing to take priority over sitting with drinks. Put it on your shortlist if a busy, energetic atmosphere is what you’re after.
  • Colorado Club: a long-established name in Rhodes Town nightlife. Consider it for a club-centred evening, and use the current programme to decide whether it fits your group.
  • NOR Beach Bar: an alternative if you prefer a beach setting to a conventional club. It combines daytime drinks with a livelier night-time atmosphere; compare beach bars in Rhodes if that setting matters more to you than a dedicated club.

Chapter 3 of 9

Which Rhodes Town rooftop suits your evening?

Choose IXIA ROOF GARDEN for wide city-and-sea views, Ronda for a seaside setting, The Lighthouse for harbour views and cocktails, or Jivino’s for a casual evening with sharing plates. A rooftop evening is different from a club night: the terrace, drinks and conversation are the main plan.

a drink in a blue glass with a bananas and a straw
a drink in a blue glass with a bananas and a straw.

IXIA ROOF GARDEN at the Esperia City Hotel

IXIA ROOF GARDEN is at the Esperia City Hotel on G. Griva Street, near Elli Beach in New Town. Despite the name, this is a Rhodes Town option, not an evening out in the resort of Ixia.

The high, spacious terrace has panoramic Aegean views stretching towards Mandraki Harbour. Modern décor, good cocktails and a relaxed atmosphere make it a strong choice for sunset drinks before dinner.

I’d choose this one for a group wanting more space than a smaller Old Town terrace. It also suits couples who care more about an open city-and-sea panorama than a small, lantern-lit setting.

  • Choose it for: elevated sea views, sunset and an elegant pre-dinner drink.
  • Combine it with: an afternoon at Elli Beach, followed by drinks in New Town.

Ronda Rooftop Lounge

Ronda Rooftop Lounge is in the Elli Beach area, on Akti Miaouli. Alongside its beach-club setting, it has a rooftop terrace with an open Aegean horizon.

This is the choice for sea views, sunset colours and a stylish lounge atmosphere. The cocktails are a good reason to linger, but the seaside setting is what separates it from the other options.

For a date centred on golden-hour drinks, I’d put Ronda on the shortlist. Choose IXIA instead if you prefer a broader view across both the city and sea.

  • Choose it for: sea breeze, an open horizon and cocktails before dinner.
  • Less suited to: anyone who dislikes an exposed, breezy terrace.

The Lighthouse Rooftop at Amarande Living Hotel

The Lighthouse Rooftop is at Amarande Living Hotel on Amerikis Street in New Town. Its elevated position gives you views of Mandraki Harbour, St. Nicholas Fortress and the bay.

The design is sleek and modern, with a sophisticated cocktail list. Gin cocktails are a particular recommendation here, without needing to choose a specific named drink in advance.

I’d pick The Lighthouse if you want cocktails with a recognisable Rhodes backdrop rather than an open sea horizon. Stay as the harbour lights come on: the evening view is part of the appeal.

  • Choose it for: harbour-and-city views, modern surroundings and gin cocktails.
  • Best fit: a polished drinks evening where the view matters as much as the glass.

Jivino’s RoofGarden

Jivino’s RoofGarden offers comfortable rooftop seating, warm lantern lighting and views over a market square and Old Town rooftops. The mood is relaxed and friendly rather than sleek or formal.

Food, meze and drinks make it a good option when you want sharing plates alongside simple cocktails. It is also a good-value choice for friends who want to settle in without making the evening feel like an occasion.

I’d choose Jivino’s for a casual catch-up rather than a sea-view sunset. Its appeal is the lit-up townscape and easy atmosphere, not the wide Aegean panorama of IXIA or Ronda.

  • Choose it for: groups, sharing plates, comfortable seating and a laid-back evening.
  • Less suited to: anyone whose main priority is an open sea view or a sophisticated cocktail list.

Choose for the view, cocktails or a date

Start with the kind of evening you want, rather than trying to visit all four. You can combine drinks with sightseeing using the Rhodes Town overview, then leave time to enjoy the terrace.

For sunset, IXIA and Ronda are the clearest choices among these four. Arrive before sunset rather than following one fixed clock time throughout the season; for other viewpoints, explore these sunset spots around Rhodes.

  • Wide sunset view: IXIA for an elevated city-and-sea panorama; Ronda for a seaside horizon.
  • Harbour after dark: The Lighthouse for Mandraki, St. Nicholas Fortress and the bay lights.
  • Cocktail-focused evening: The Lighthouse for its sophisticated list and gin cocktails; Ronda for cocktails with a sea breeze.
  • A date: I’d choose Ronda for seaside drinks, The Lighthouse for a modern setting, or Jivino’s for relaxed sharing plates.
  • Friends and food: Jivino’s for meze and simple cocktails; IXIA when terrace space and the panorama matter more.

Chapter 4 of 9

Is Faliraki right for your night out?

Faliraki suits you if you want young, loud, energetic nightlife, with bar-hopping, dancing and plenty of people to meet. It is not my first choice for quiet conversation or a romantic drink.

What to expect on Faliraki Bar Street

Bar Street is the focus of a party night in Faliraki, with bars next to each other and loud music. The appeal is simple: you can wander between places, meet people and stop wherever the atmosphere feels right.

Expect summer crowds and a youthful holiday mood rather than a quiet evening over cocktails. Budget-friendly drinks and themed nights are part of its appeal, but check menus and current event details locally.

Choose Faliraki for the evening you want, not because you feel you need to spend your whole holiday partying. For the wider resort beyond Bar Street, explore what to expect in Faliraki.

  • Best fit: friends and travellers who enjoy loud music, dancing and moving between bars.
  • Less suitable: anyone who wants an unhurried conversation or a calm date night.
  • Main advantage: several bars close together, so you can change the mood without committing to one venue.

Choosing bars and a party-focused evening

I’d keep the evening flexible rather than build it around one promised party. Start with these established Faliraki names, then choose by the music and crowd on the night.

  • Bondi Bar: a colourful, fun, social choice if meeting people is part of your evening.
  • Mike’s Bar: a good pick for friendly staff and an energetic atmosphere.
  • On the Rocks: a Faliraki classic to consider for a lively bar stop.

Dinner before going out

My suggestion: eat before heading into the main Bar Street evening, especially if you want time to talk with your group. Browse places to eat in Faliraki and make dinner a separate, relaxed part of the night.

Then head to the bars without a packed schedule. A meal followed by one or two lively stops can be enough; you do not need to turn every Faliraki evening into a full club night.

Chapter 5 of 9

Why choose Lindos for an evening out?

Choose Lindos for rooftop drinks and lounge-led evenings, especially if you want the setting to be part of your night. It suits couples and travellers who prefer dinner, cocktails and music to a loud Bar Street crawl.

Rooftop bars and lounges

Whitewashed houses, winding lanes and rooftop terraces give Lindos its evening appeal. Some rooftops offer Acropolis or sea views, but the setting varies between venues. Choose your terrace for the outlook you want rather than expecting every bar to have the same view.

The mood leans towards stylish cocktails, relaxed music and evenings that leave room for conversation. You can still find livelier music and dancing, so Lindos needn’t mean a quiet drink followed by an early night.

These four venues offer different kinds of evenings. They aren’t interchangeable rooftop recommendations:

  • Yannis Bar: The oldest bar in Lindos, with plenty of character. A good choice if a long-established village bar appeals more than a polished lounge.
  • Captain’s Mansion – Lindian House Bar: A traditional Lindian house converted into a stylish bar, with cocktails, music and atmospheric seating. Choose it for the house setting.
  • Lindos by Night: A small club with lively music and dancing. An option when you want to lift the pace after dinner.
  • Ice Bar (Lindos Ice Bar): A cold-themed bar with upbeat tunes and a playful atmosphere. It offers a different mood from a romantic rooftop evening.

A dinner-and-drinks evening

My suggestion: choose somewhere for dinner in Lindos, then make one bar your main stop rather than rushing between several. That gives you time to enjoy the village setting and settle into the evening.

If a rooftop is your priority, eat early enough to reach it around 20:00. Otherwise, take your time over dinner and keep your choice of bar flexible. Rooftop drinks tend to cost a little more, so compare menus before settling in.

A nicer holiday outfit fits the Lindos mood; there’s no need to make it formal. Comfortable shoes matter more: the stone lanes can be uneven, and rooftops involve stairs. If stairs are difficult for you, check access before choosing a terrace.

If you’re making a longer visit, explore what else to do in Lindos before dinner. Keep the evening loose rather than packing it with stops.

Who may prefer a different area

If your ideal night means loud music, neighbouring party bars and moving straight into the next crowd, choose Faliraki instead. Its Bar Street is a better match for that atmosphere than a Lindos rooftop evening.

Lindos also isn’t the obvious choice if you want somewhere very quiet or dislike busy terraces. Its romantic setting attracts plenty of people, particularly in high season. Choose it for atmosphere and a slower pace—not for a promise of silence.

Chapter 6 of 9

Where can you have a more relaxed evening?

Choose Pefkos for relaxed bars and evening entertainment, or Lardos for drinks with a more local village atmosphere. Kiotari suits a slower coastal evening, especially if you want dinner and a drink rather than a party.

Pefkos: relaxed bars and entertainment

Pefkos is a good middle ground: sociable and entertaining, without the party-street feel of Faliraki. You can choose cocktails, an English-style pub, live music or karaoke, rather than commit to a club night.

I’d choose it for couples or friends who want some atmosphere without making dancing the whole evening. It also suits a family evening better than a club-focused area, though the livelier bars won’t suit everyone.

  • Happy Friends: Cocktails, friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. A straightforward choice when you want to sit and chat.
  • The Pub: An English-style pub with a casual, fun feel. Choose it if you prefer a familiar pub setting to a cocktail lounge.
  • Rock Garden: Live music nights and a more energetic atmosphere. A better fit when you want entertainment alongside your drinks.
  • Pefkos By Night: Karaoke evenings with a fun, sociable feel. Choose this for participation rather than a quiet conversation.
  • Fuse Cocktail Bar: Stylish cocktails and a modern setting.
  • Peacock Cocktail Bar: Drinks and happy-hour offers. Check the current offer before ordering rather than budgeting around a fixed deal.
  • Puro Cubano: Cuban-style cocktails and a dance-focused atmosphere. An option when you want more movement without choosing a full club night.
  • Zig Zag Bar: A Pefkos classic with a warm, lively atmosphere.

Lardos: a local, welcoming evening

Lardos puts the village atmosphere ahead of organised entertainment. Think drinks in a lively square, Greek music and friendly bar owners, rather than a string of clubs.

Choose it if conversation and a welcoming setting matter more than polished surroundings. It is social rather than silent, but it’s not where I’d send you for a big dance night.

Start by choosing among these places to eat in Lardos, then keep the rest of the evening simple. Dinner followed by a village-bar drink makes more sense here than planning lots of stops.

  • Yamas Bar: A warm, fun bar with a Greek atmosphere. A good fit for the village-style evening that makes Lardos appealing.
  • Memories Cocktail Bar: Cocktails in a vibrant setting in the square. Choose it when you want your drink to come with some village activity around you.

Kiotari: planning an evening nearby

Kiotari suits calm coastal evenings, with relaxed bars and a slower pace than Rhodes Town or Faliraki. I’d choose it for a couple’s drink or an easy evening close to where you’re staying, not for club-hopping.

Build the evening around dinner in Kiotari, then pick a bar that suits your mood. Keep it to one area rather than turning a relaxed night into several journeys.

If you want more entertainment, consider Pefkos instead and start with dinner in Pefkos. For a village-square evening, choose Lardos; neither plan needs to depend on access to hotel entertainment.

  • Pelekanos Nest: A cosy, friendly choice for cocktails.
  • The Lighthouse: A stylish beachfront setting that suits couples looking for a relaxed drink.
  • Mosa Beach Bar: Chilled music, sunset seating and colourful lights. A choice for a beach-bar evening rather than a nightclub.

My suggestion: If you’re travelling from another resort and plan to drink, arrange your return before heading out. You can browse transfer options rather than build the evening around driving.

Chapter 7 of 9

Would a beach bar suit you better than a club?

A beach bar suits you if you want drinks by the sea rather than making a club your main destination. Compare the best beach bars in Rhodes to choose a setting that fits your evening.

Seaside drinks rather than a club night

I'd choose a beach bar when the sea view matters more than a dancefloor. It suits couples and friends who want a drink together without building the whole evening around clubbing.

A beach-bar setting isn't a promise of quiet music or a party atmosphere. If dancing is your priority, choose by the entertainment planned for your date rather than the beachfront location alone.

You can also combine beach time with drinks instead of making a separate night out. Use the Rhodes beach overview to choose your stretch of coast, then find a nearby bar.

Finding a beach bar or a specific event

Choosing somewhere for seaside drinks and booking a music event are two different plans. For drinks, focus on the setting and confirm evening opening for your date before heading out.

For a particular party or music night, browse events for your holiday dates and read the dated listing before booking. Check the venue, start time and entry terms; a beach-bar name alone doesn't tell you what's happening that night.

Chapter 8 of 9

How should you plan the timing and budget?

Choose your main venue or experience first, then fit dinner and transport around it. Budget for the whole evening: drinks, food, any entry charge and the journey home.

Build the evening around your main stop

For a rooftop evening, decide whether you want sunset views or drinks after dark. If the view matters most, arrive before sunset on your travel date and leave dinner until afterwards. A fixed arrival time won’t work throughout the season.

For a club night, I’d have dinner first and leave the main stop until later. In summer, clubs generally start filling around midnight; you don’t need to spend the whole evening waiting there. A nearby bar makes a better first stop if you want conversation before dancing.

Keep dinner near your main venue rather than crossing the island between stops. You can choose somewhere suitable through places to eat by area. If you’re planning a late finish, leave some breathing room in the next morning’s Rhodes itinerary.

  • Sunset drinks: make the rooftop your first stop, with enough time to settle in before the light changes.
  • Dinner and conversation: choose an evening table without making sunset the deadline.
  • Live music or a special event: build dinner around the advertised start time.
  • A flexible bar crawl: choose one nightlife area and keep later stops optional.

Reservations and current event listings

Reserve when a particular terrace or table is the reason you’re going out. Sunset reservations are recommended for IXIA Roof Garden at the Esperia City Hotel. Lindos rooftops also fill early in high season, so I’d arrange the main stop rather than leave it to chance.

Walking in works better when you’re happy to change venue or sit away from the best view. For a group or a special evening, booking gives you a firmer plan. Leave enough space between dinner and drinks so a slow meal doesn’t become a rush.

Prices and seasonal opening patterns change, so use current menus and event listings dated for your visit rather than fixed estimates. For live music, DJs or theme nights, look for the actual date, start time and any ticket conditions. An old poster is not a plan for this week.

Drinks, menus and the total evening cost

Choose drinks you’ll enjoy rather than ordering cocktails just because you’re on a rooftop. For something Greek or local, look for mastiha cocktails, white wine from Embonas or beer from a Rhodes microbrewery. Herbal cocktails with rosemary, basil or mint are another option when they appear on the menu.

Compare the whole evening, not just the price of the first drink. A cheaper bar farther from your hotel can lose its advantage once you add the return journey. If you’re staying outside the nightlife area, price a private transfer before deciding what you can spend at the venue.

  • Drinks: allow for your likely orders, plus water and any soft drinks.
  • Food: include dinner, sharing plates or a snack later in the evening.
  • Entry: add any advertised ticket or cover charge, and read what it includes.
  • Transport: set aside the cost of getting there and home before spending your drinks budget.

My suggestion: If you’d rather book an experience than improvise a bar crawl, browse the Rhodes Booking Marketplace before fixing your evening plans.

Chapter 9 of 9

How do you get to your night out and back?

Arrange your journey home before you start drinking, especially if you’re going out away from your hotel. Use the bus when its timetable fits, or plan a taxi or pre-booked transfer for the return.

Rhodes to Faliraki via Kallithea: Bus 40

Bus 40 connects Rhodes and Faliraki via Kallithea, with a Monday–Sunday timetable pattern. It’s an option for travelling between these areas, but that daily pattern doesn’t mean overnight service.

Check both current outbound and return departures before choosing the bus for your evening. Read the practical advice on Rhodes buses to help plan the journey.

Rhodes Public Transport and journey planning

Use the Rhodes Public Transport website or smartphone app for service information and estimated bus arrivals at stops. These help you plan when to leave and follow your bus’s expected arrival.

The Rhodes Municipality mobility website also provides real-time public transport and traffic information. Its journey planner combines different ways of travelling, which helps when your evening includes walking and public transport.

Your return journey and taxi budget

Many parts of Rhodes Town are walkable, so walking may suit you if your hotel is nearby. If you’re returning to Ixia, Faliraki or another resort outside the centre, I’d plan transport rather than a long walk.

Taxi waits can be longer after 01:00, particularly when lots of people are heading home. Keep money aside for the return and agree the taxi cost before setting off.

My suggestion: if the available bus times don’t fit your night, arrange a suitable pre-booked transfer. Set a pickup time and meeting point that work for your evening, rather than leaving the decision until you’re outside the bar.

Airport arrivals and daytime car rental

If you’re landing before an evening out, arrange Rhodes airport transfers for your arrival journey. You can also compare arrival options in the Rhodes airport transport advice; your journey home after drinks needs a separate plan.

For daytime island exploring, compare car rental prices and local deals if you want more freedom between stops. I’d keep the hire car for sightseeing and leave it parked for a drinking night: don’t drive after drinking.
